Based on the partnership's distribution news release dated October 22, 2026, the Form 8-K it was furnished with, and the distribution releases for the third quarter of 2025 and the second quarter of 2026.
Dorchester Minerals, L.P. declared a third-quarter cash distribution of $0.882297 per common unit, 27.89% above the $0.689883 declared a year earlier and 30.69% below the $1.272943 of the second quarter. Cash receipts attributable to the Royalty Properties were approximately $37.0 million, net profits interest receipts $3.0 million and lease bonus and other income $6.3 million, with $4.4 million of contributed cash from an acquisition that closed on July 31, 2026.
Dorchester Minerals, L.P. holds mineral, royalty, overriding royalty, net profits and leasehold interests, so its quarterly distribution notice reads as a statement of cash received: what came in, how much of it traces to the quarter just ended, and what unitholders will be paid.
Royalty receipts rise and lease bonus income does the rest
Royalty receipts were approximately $37.0 million, 12.12% above the $33.0 million recorded in the third quarter of 2025. Net profits interest receipts moved the other way, down 41.18% to $3.0 million from $5.1 million. The sharpest swing was in lease bonus and other income: "Cash receipts attributable to lease bonus and other income during the third quarter totaled approximately $6.3 million", against $400,000 a year earlier. Adding the four receipt lines the October 2026 notice prints gives $50.7 million, 31.69% more than the $38.5 million produced by the three lines of the notice a year earlier; excluding the $4.4 million acquisition contribution, the three comparable lines totaled $46.3 million, up 20.26%.
Receipts trail the production months they describe
The notice is explicit about timing, and the timing sets how much of the quarter's activity the payout actually captures. Approximately 80% of third-quarter royalty receipts reflect oil sales from June through August 2026 and natural gas sales from May through July 2026, with the remaining 20% drawn from earlier sales periods. Net profits interest receipts were split 50% to the May-through-July window and 50% to prior periods. A year earlier the royalty split was 70% current and 30% prior, so the third-quarter 2026 distribution rests on a fresher slice of sales than the third-quarter 2025 distribution did.
The second quarter behind a 30.69% sequential decline
Measured against the $1.272943 declared in July, the new rate is 30.69% lower, and both production-linked lines fell. Third-quarter royalty receipts of $37.0 million were 26.59% below the second quarter's $50.4 million, and net profits interest receipts of $3.0 million were 81.93% below $16.6 million. That quarter's notice put 79% of the NPI total in prior sales periods, "including proceeds from the previously announced settlement and mutual release agreement affecting certain leasehold in Midland County, Texas." Lease bonus income ran the other way, from $2.5 million to $6.3 million.
A July acquisition adds a line the year-earlier notice did not have
"Contributed cash attributed to the acquisition that closed on July 31, 2026, totaled approximately $4.4 million." That is the only receipt line without a counterpart in the third-quarter 2025 notice, and the release does not identify the seller or the properties, state a purchase price, or say whether the sum reflects production income, a closing adjustment or both. Whether any of it recurs in the fourth quarter is left open.
A payout date fixed, an income statement still to come
The notice fixes what holders can act on: unitholders of record on November 2, 2026 are paid on November 12, 2026. It is not a quarterly earnings report, and it carries no revenue, net income, distributable cash flow, production volumes, realized prices, unit count or coverage figure, nor any guidance. The Form 10-Q for the quarter ended September 30, 2026 is where income statement and cash flow detail would appear; the release does not say when it will be filed. One further line travels with every DMLP distribution: nominees are told to treat 100% of distributions to non-U.S. investors as attributable to income "effectively connected with a United States trade or business." The notice adds that a portion may not be, and that alternative withholding procedures may apply.
