Lakeland Financial deck shows 5.75% more net interest income on a 300 basis point rate rise
The third-quarter presentation furnished to investors puts the downside at 8.17% for a matching cut, and reports nine-month 2026 net income of $83.78 million, up 14.05% from a year earlier.

Third-quarter 2026 investor presentation furnished October 26, 2026 as Exhibit 99.1 to a Form 8-K, with data as of September 30, 2026 and comparatives taken from the same deck's 2025 columns.
Lakeland Financial Corporation furnished the third-quarter investor presentation its executives will use in meetings, and the filing's most consequential number is a rate sensitivity disclosure rather than an earnings figure: as of September 30, 2026, a 300 basis point rise in rates lifts projected twelve-month net interest income by 5.75%, while an equal decline cuts it 8.17%. The deck reports nine-month 2026 net income of $83.78 million, up 14.05% from $73.46 million a year earlier, and diluted earnings per share of $3.31 against $2.85.
Lakeland Financial Corporation filed the material for its next round of investor meetings rather than a fresh set of quarterly statements. The Form 8-K, dated October 26, 2026, carries the Warsaw, Indiana company's third-quarter investor presentation as Exhibit 99.1 under Item 7.01, the Regulation FD channel, and the filing says the deck exists to support conversations with investors and analysts rather than to restate the quarter.
The presentation's most consequential disclosure is about interest rates, not earnings. As of September 30, 2026, its simulation of twelve-month net interest income produces 5.75% for a 300 basis point rise in rates and a decline of 8.17% for a matching fall.
Rate posture shifts toward asset sensitivity
A slide headed "Interest Rate Risk Posture Shifts to Asset Sensitive" gives the full ladder as of September 30, 2026: 0.52% for a 25 basis point rise, 1.02% for 50, 1.96% for 100, 3.83% for 200 and 5.75% for 300, against declines of 0.55%, 1.13%, 2.37%, 5.06% and 8.17% for the matching cuts. The downside is larger than the upside at every rung, so a bank that gains from higher rates still gives up more if rates fall.
The mechanism sits in the loan book and the deposit base. Commercial loans were $4.9 billion at September 30, 2026, or 87% of the loan portfolio, and 71% of commercial loans are tied to variable rates. About $677.2 million of fixed-rate commercial loans are estimated to reprice within twelve months at a weighted average yield of 5.82%, while $1.8 billion of public funds are tied to the Effective Federal Funds Rate. The deck puts the cost of funds at 2.13% in the third quarter of 2026 against a 2.90% peak in the second quarter of 2024.
The net interest margin was 3.58% in the third quarter, 8 basis points wider than the 3.50% of a year earlier and above the 3.49% of the second quarter of 2026, and the deck credits loan growth for part of that. One funding ratio moved the other way: average noninterest-bearing deposits were 20% of average deposits, against 21% a year earlier.
Nine months of growth, in the deck's thousands
The performance charts run in thousands of dollars and mostly cover the nine months to September 30 rather than the quarter. Net income for that stretch was $83.78 million against $73.46 million in the same period of 2025, an increase of 14.05%. Diluted earnings per share were $3.31 against $2.85, up 16.14% from a year earlier.
Total revenue was $213.57 million, up 7.22% from a year earlier, as net interest income rose 7.31% to $175.8 million and noninterest income rose 6.82% to $37.78 million. Noninterest expense grew faster, up 7.71% from a year earlier to $105.73 million. Pretax pre-provision earnings, which the deck labels a non-GAAP measure, were $107.85 million, up 6.74% from $101.03 million a year earlier.
Dividends per share for the nine months were $1.56 against $1.50, an increase of 4.00% from the same period of 2025.
Bond losses hold tangible capital at 10.11%
Unrealized losses in the securities book widened over the year. Available-for-sale securities carried $213.92 million of unrealized losses at September 30, 2026, against $143.26 million at December 31, 2025, and held-to-maturity losses rose to $31.08 million from $15.7 million, or $245 million combined against $158.95 million.
That is why the market-value cushion and the regulatory ratios point in different directions. Tangible common equity was 10.11% of tangible assets and 12.32% after adjusting both sides of the ratio; total risk-based capital was 15.56% and the leverage ratio 12.36%, both well above the thresholds on the slide. Book value per share was $29.29, tangible book value $29.14 and adjusted tangible book value $36.39. Investment securities fell from 17% of assets at the end of 2025 to 15%.
A liquidity cushion and the reconciliations this filing lacks
Available liquidity was $3.6 billion against $3.4 billion at June 30, 2026, and brokered deposits fell to 4% of total deposits from 5% at mid-year. Total deposits were $6.3 billion, including $1.3 billion of demand deposits, or 21% of the total; 98% of deposit accounts were under $250,000. Lakeland runs 55 branch offices against $7.2 billion of banking assets.
The exhibit is narrow by design. Its footnote directs readers to a "Third Quarter 2026 Earnings Press Release and Form 8-K" for the non-GAAP reconciliations, and the company states that it "does not intend for this Item 7.01 or Exhibit 99.1 to be treated as" filed. What the exhibit itself carries is the presentation only: no income statement, no numeric outlook and no reconciliation table. Nothing in the filing speaks to analyst estimates, so there is no basis for a beat or a miss, and the capital ratios on the deck's summary slide are marked "preliminary pending the finalization of regulatory filings". The next dated document is the fourth-quarter presentation the company would furnish after December 31, 2026.
