United Fire Group, Inc. will report third-quarter 2026 results after the market closes on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, and hold its earnings call the following morning at 9 a.m. CT, the Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based property and casualty insurer said in a filing on October 21. The notice contains no third-quarter figures. The company's most recent reported period, the quarter ended June 30, produced net income of $33.4 million, or $1.29 per diluted share, and a combined ratio of 95.3%.
A calendar notice, not a quarterly result
The exhibit attached to the filing is a scheduling announcement rather than a results release. It supplies the date and time of the release and the call, dial-in numbers, replay access, webcast links and a short company description, and it states no premium, loss, expense or earnings figure for the September quarter. Readers looking for third-quarter numbers will not find them in this document: the results themselves are due November 3, and the call is set for 9 a.m. CT on November 4. The notice also carries no guidance and no consensus estimate, so nothing here speaks to expectations for the quarter.
The record second quarter the November print has to follow
UFG's second-quarter release, filed August 3, set a high bar. Net income rose 45% from a year earlier to $33.4 million, or $1.29 per diluted share, and adjusted operating income, a non-GAAP measure, rose 42% to $33.7 million, or $1.30 per diluted share. Net written premium increased 9% from a year earlier to $406.4 million, net investment income rose 33% from a year earlier to $28.9 million, and the combined ratio improved 1.1 points from the same quarter a year earlier to 95.3%. Book value per share stood at $38.02 on June 30, and return on equity was 13.2% for the six months ended June 30.
Catastrophe losses and reserves decide the quarter
The combined ratio is the figure to carry into November. In the second quarter, a 2.7% catastrophe loss ratio — down 2.8 points from 5.5% a year earlier and, by the company's account, below both its five-year and 10-year historical averages — did much of the work in taking the combined ratio to 95.3% from 96.4%. The underlying combined ratio, which strips out catastrophes and reserve development, actually rose 0.1 points from a year earlier to 92.6%, and the underwriting expense ratio rose 0.5 points to 35.4%. Prior-year reserve development was neutral in the quarter, against 1.6 points of favorable development a year earlier. A September quarter with heavier catastrophe activity, or with adverse reserve movement, would leave the headline combined ratio above the second quarter's 95.3% even if the underlying business performed exactly as it did.
