Reporting is based on AT&T's Form 8-K filed October 16, 2026, the EDGAR filing index for that report, and the company's prior Item 5.02 current report filed September 9, 2026.
AT&T told investors that Lori M. Lee, its Global Marketing Officer & Senior Executive Vice President – International, will leave at the end of 2026 and that the position itself is ending. In a current report filed October 16, 2026, the company said Lee "announced she was retiring from the company effective December 31, 2026" and that her role will be eliminated in connection with the pending sale of AT&T's wireless business in Mexico, an agreement the company announced on October 13, 2026. The report contains no financial results and no terms for the divestiture.
AT&T's marketing chief retires as her job is cut
AT&T used a current report to disclose that Lori M. Lee, its Global Marketing Officer & Senior Executive Vice President – International, "announced she was retiring from the company effective December 31, 2026." The Form 8-K was filed on October 16, 2026 and covers an event dated October 14, 2026, the day after the company said it had agreed to sell its wireless business in Mexico. The filing connects the two: "In connection with this divestiture and other reorganizational efforts by the company, Ms. Lee’s role will be eliminated."
That second sentence is the substance of the disclosure. The report is not an earnings document and carries no revenue, profit or cash figures. Under Item 9.01, AT&T listed one exhibit, the cover-page data file that accompanies an electronic filing, and no news release or separation agreement is attached. The report does not say whether Lee will receive severance, whether a successor has been named, or whether her duties will move to another executive.
The Mexico sale appears only as a cause of the reorganization
The wireless business AT&T agreed to sell in Mexico surfaces in the report only as the reason for an internal change. The filing gives no buyer, no price, no expected closing date and no accounting treatment for the transaction; it refers to the agreement as something the company had already announced on October 13, 2026. Anyone looking for the economics of that divestiture will have to wait for AT&T's periodic financial statements or for a later filing on the sale itself.
Item 5.02, the item under which the report was filed, is the standard home for the departure of certain officers, for board elections and appointments, and for the compensation arrangements that go with them. AT&T confined its disclosure to that item and to Item 9.01. The signature block carries the name of Stacey Maris, the company's Senior Vice President, Secretary and Chief Privacy Officer, signing on the registrant's behalf rather than explaining the decision.
The last time AT&T filed on this item, the change was an addition
The company's previous report under the same item, filed September 9, 2026, recorded a board expansion rather than a departure. In it, the board "adopted a resolution that effective September 8, 2026, the size of the Board would increase from 10 to 11 members" and elected Fazal F. Merchant to the vacancy, placing him on the Audit and the Corporate Development and Finance Committees. Read alongside the latest report, the two filings show AT&T enlarging its board while retiring a senior international marketing post.
No executive or spokesperson is quoted, and the document offers no explanation of why the company chose to eliminate the role rather than refill it. The disclosure rests on the company's own words, which are definite on two points: the retirement takes effect on December 31, 2026, and the position ends in connection with the Mexico divestiture and other reorganizational efforts.
The dates the filing does and does not set
One dated checkpoint follows from the report: the retirement takes effect on December 31, 2026. For the role itself the report sets no date, saying only that her position "will be eliminated." The Mexico wireless sale has no closing date in the document, so the timing of that transaction and its effect on AT&T's results sit outside what this filing establishes. Neither item arrives through this report; both belong to the disclosures that follow the agreement and the departure.
