Nvidia Is About 4% Away From Becoming the First $6 Trillion Company

What “Source checked” means

Nvidia's record $238.90 close on Monday put its market value at approximately $5.76 trillion, leaving about 4% — roughly $249 a share — between the chipmaker and a milestone no public company has ever reached: a $6 trillion market capitalization.

The math is almost embarrassingly simple at this point. Monday's record $238.90 close valued Nvidia at approximately $5.76 trillion; $6 trillion sits about 4% higher, at roughly $249 a share. Tuesday's session pushed further into record territory, with the stock changing hands around $241.83 — putting the milestone a little closer still.

A year of trillion-dollar firsts

Nvidia has made a habit of getting there first. It was first to $4 trillion in July 2025, then became the first company in the world to reach a market capitalization of $5 trillion on October 29, 2025. Apple is only the second publicly traded company ever to cross the $5 trillion threshold. The $6 trillion race, such as it is, has exactly one entrant.

It took roughly a year to go from $5 trillion to nearly $5.8 trillion — a trillion dollars of market value created while the AI buildout kept accelerating.

What's doing the pushing

Monday's 2.12% gain outpaced the Nasdaq's 1.05% rise, and the setup behind it keeps building. The board authorized an additional $150 billion in share repurchases, lifting the program to $235 billion through fiscal 2028 — a signal management sees the stock as undervalued at these levels. The shares broke out after seven weeks of consolidation between $207 and $235 that worked off the excess from the spring rally.

The demand story has not changed: hyperscalers are still racing to build AI data centers, and Nvidia's own numbers keep justifying the multiple. Fiscal second-quarter revenue was $96.221 billion, with $89.0 billion of it from data center alone. Wall Street's bull case, meanwhile, rests on valuation: the forward earnings multiple sits below 20, and BNP Paribas's $345 target implies the stock could climb another 45% from Monday's level.

The number underneath the number

Strip out the milestone theater and the story is still the business. Data center revenue of $89 billion in a single quarter is the engine; everything else — the buyback, the breakout, the round-number magnet at $6 trillion — is commentary on it. TickerGrove's read: the $6 trillion question is no longer whether AI demand is real. It is whether anything left in the market can still move without Nvidia moving first.

What to watch from here: whether $249 falls this month — options positioning points to October — and whether Nvidia's next earnings report gives the rally another leg, or reminds everyone what $6 trillion actually costs.
