Matchpoint Therapeutics company news dated Oct. 7, 2026 on a $150 million Series B co-led by Nextech Invest and Norwest; GlobeNewswire distribution the same day; Fierce Biotech independent report the same day.
Matchpoint Therapeutics said it closed a $150 million Series B to advance oral covalent medicines for autoimmune and inflammatory disease, including clinical work on lead candidate MPT-062 beginning in 2027.
What Matchpoint announced
On Oct. 7, Matchpoint Therapeutics said it closed a $150 million Series B. Nextech Invest and Norwest co-led the round. New investors Invus, BB Biotech, T1D Fund, and BOLD Longevity Growth joined. Founding investors Access Biotechnology and Atlas Venture participated, as did Series A lead Sanofi Ventures, Digitalis Ventures, and the company's other existing investors.
Matchpoint said the proceeds will support clinical development of MPT-062, an oral first-in-class T cell modulator, with work toward clinical proof of concept set to begin in 2027. The company also said it will keep advancing a separate program funded by Novartis under a July 2025 agreement.
Kanishka Pothula, a managing partner at Nextech Invest, and Brian Matesic, a principal at Norwest, will join Matchpoint's board in connection with the financing.
How the company and Fierce Biotech frame the pipeline
Matchpoint, based in Watertown, Massachusetts, describes itself as a privately held biotechnology company building precision covalent small molecules for targets that have been hard to drug. Chief executive Andre Turenne said the Series B reflects progress on first-in-class oral therapies for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases and thanked new and existing investors as the company moves MPT-062 into clinical development.
Fierce Biotech, reporting the same day, confirmed the $150 million Series B and the Nextech-Norwest co-lead structure. The outlet said Matchpoint raised a $70 million Series A in 2022 led by Sanofi Ventures and later received $60 million upfront from Novartis for an option on oral covalent inhibitors aimed at an unnamed transcription factor linked to inflammatory disease. Fierce Biotech also said Matchpoint plans to put MPT-062 into a clinical study next year and called the candidate an oral T cell modulator pitched as a first-in-class option.
What readers should separate
The company release states the $150 million close, the co-leads, the named new and returning investors, the board seats, the MPT-062 clinical timeline, and the continuing Novartis-funded program. Series A size and the $60 million Novartis upfront figure appear in Fierce Biotech's independent report, not in Matchpoint's Oct. 7 release. Matchpoint did not disclose valuation, ownership percentages, or the molecular target of MPT-062 in the financing announcement.
