Enbridge has appointed Michele Harradence to succeed Greg Ebel as president and chief executive officer effective January 1, 2027. Ebel announced his intention to retire on September 7, 2026, with his departure from the executive roles and board effective December 31. The succession was disclosed in a September 8 filing and press release; Ebel remains president and CEO until year-end.

Succession timetable

Harradence, currently executive vice president and president of Gas Distribution and Storage, will also join Enbridge's board on January 1. Ebel will serve as an advisor to the board and Harradence from January until May 2027. Enbridge said the appointment follows a multi-year succession planning process led by its board.

Harradence role and board seat

Harradence has led Enbridge's gas utilities since 2022, including the integration of its U.S. utilities businesses. She previously served as senior vice president and chief operations officer in Gas Transmission and Midstream. She joined Enbridge in 2014 after holding senior leadership roles at Shell Canada. The company says its utilities platform serves 7.2 million homes, schools, hospitals and businesses across Canada and the United States.

Harradence operating background

Ebel joined Enbridge in 2017 through the Spectra Energy path and became president and CEO in January 2023. In its release, Enbridge credited him with helping secure its $41 billion growth project backlog and expanding its natural gas platform through the acquisition of three U.S. natural gas utilities from Dominion Energy.

Ebel tenure and company framing

The filing said Ebel's retirement decision was for personal reasons and did not result from a disagreement over Enbridge's operations, policies or practices. It also disclosed no arrangement or understanding with another person pursuant to which Harradence was appointed, no family relationships with directors or executive officers, and no related-party transactions requiring disclosure under Item 404.

Filing disclosures

The announced transition separates the retirement and appointment dates: Ebel's tenure continues through December 31, 2026, and Harradence's executive and board appointments take effect the following day. The subsequent advisory period extends until May 2027.

Post-Jan 1 operating priorities and any future compensatory detail remain open

The filing discloses a succession timetable. It does not prove the transition has already occurred, disclose compensation, or establish product or market outcomes under the new CEO.
