AbbVie Raises Its 2026 Profit Guide After Skyrizi and Rinvoq Power a Third-Quarter Beat
The two immunology drugs now carry the company past Humira's decline, and the raised guide says management expects the run to hold.
AbbVie beat third-quarter expectations on Friday and raised its full-year profit guidance, as Skyrizi and Rinvoq growth overwhelmed Humira's continued decline.
AbbVie reported third-quarter 2026 results on Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, for the three months ended Sept. 30.
The company is a North Chicago, Illinois-based drugmaker. Its shares trade in New York under the ticker ABBV.
Worldwide net revenues were $17.404 billion, up 10.3% on a reported basis. At constant currency, which the company calls operational, revenues rose 10.5%.
Diluted earnings per share were $2.37 on a GAAP basis. GAAP is the standard United States accounting basis.
Adjusted diluted earnings per share were $3.82. Adjusted results strip out specified items the company treats as unusual or unpredictable.
Both revenue and adjusted profit topped analyst estimates, Reuters reported.
The quarter carried an $0.11 per share hit from acquired IPR&D and milestones expense. IPR&D is in-process research and development bought from outside.
On a GAAP basis, the gross margin ratio was 75.4%. The adjusted gross margin ratio was 85.1%, and the adjusted operating margin ratio was 48.7%.
Immunology carried the growth
Global immunology revenues were $9.165 billion, up 16.3% on a reported basis. The portfolio now supplies more than half of company revenue.
Skyrizi brought in $5.776 billion, up 22.7% on a reported basis. Skyrizi treats skin and gastrointestinal conditions.
The result beat the $5.75 billion Wall Street estimate compiled by LSEG, Reuters reported. That estimate is the one numeric consensus carried here.
Rinvoq brought in $2.706 billion, up 23.9% on a reported basis. That was in line with analyst expectations, Reuters reported.
Humira brought in $683 million, down 31.2% on a reported basis. The two newer drugs added far more than the former blockbuster lost.
"We are making significant progress across our pipeline," Chief Executive Robert Michael told analysts, Reuters reported.
Neuroscience added a second engine
Global neuroscience revenues were $3.389 billion, up 19.4% on a reported basis. Growth there no longer depends on a single product.
Vraylar, an antipsychotic, brought in $1.068 billion, up 14.3%. Botox Therapeutic brought in $1.080 billion, up 9.8%.
The two migraine drugs grew faster still. Ubrelvy brought in $449 million, up 26.9%, and Qulipta brought in $398 million, up 38.2%.
Oncology revenues were $1.696 billion, up 0.8% on a reported basis. Venclexta rose 10.7% to $803 million, while Imbruvica fell 26.1% to $522 million.
Elahere rose 31.0% on a reported basis to $224 million. The growth was not enough to lift the oncology total by much.
Aesthetics revenues were $1.176 billion, down 1.4% on a reported basis. Botox Cosmetic rose 4.9% to $669 million, while Juvederm fell 11.9% to $222 million.
Apogee is now in the fold
AbbVie also confirmed it completed its acquisition of Apogee Therapeutics. The release lists the completion among the quarter's recent events.
The deal itself closed earlier, on Sept. 3, 2026. Apogee holders received $135.11 in cash per share, without interest.
The total equity value was approximately $10.9 billion. AbbVie funded the purchase through a combination of cash on hand and debt.
Apogee adds zumilokibart, a late-stage antibody targeting IL-13 for atopic dermatitis. Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin condition.
It also adds APG273, a long-acting combination targeting IL-13 and TSLP in asthma. TSLP is thymic stromal lymphopoietin, an immune-signaling protein.
The assets deepen the immunology pipeline today. They bring no marketed revenue, and the release gives no sales forecast for them.
Apogee has since moved to delist from Nasdaq. Its common stock trading was suspended effective Sept. 4, 2026.
Guidance moved up, and so did the dividend
AbbVie raised its full-year 2026 adjusted diluted EPS guidance to $13.95 to $13.99. The prior range was $13.76 to $13.96.
That range is company guidance, announced today, not a reported result. It includes a $0.69 per share hit from acquired IPR&D and milestones expense booked year to date.
The guide excludes any such expense incurred beyond the third quarter. The company says those amounts cannot be reliably forecast.
The board raised the quarterly dividend by 5.2%, to $1.82 per share from $1.73. The new rate starts with the dividend payable Feb. 16, 2027.
The record date for that payment is Jan. 15, 2027. AbbVie has raised its quarterly dividend by 355% since its inception in 2013.
The quarter also brought a regulatory win for the core franchise. Regulators approved Skyrizi subcutaneous induction for moderately to severely active Crohn's disease.
Lutikizumab, an experimental skin-disease drug, met its primary endpoint in a Phase 3 study. The study covered moderate to severe hidradenitis suppurativa.
Shares rose on Friday afternoon
AbbVie shares traded at $293.82 at 3:42 p.m. Eastern time on Friday, up 1.04% on the day, according to StockAnalysis data. That afternoon snapshot is the single reaction figure used here.
What remains unknown
What remains unknown is what the Apogee assets will eventually earn. Neither zumilokibart nor APG273 is approved, and no revenue forecast was given.
Also unknown is the size of any further acquired IPR&D and milestones expense this year. The raised guidance explicitly leaves that amount out.
What to watch is the fourth quarter against the raised guide. Investors will also watch whether Skyrizi and Rinvoq keep outrunning Humira's slide.
